Zoom Fibre is one of the newer names in South African fibre, and it has expanded at a pace that lives up to its name.
The story behind Zoom Fibre
Founded in 2020 by Mohammed Manjra, previously an implementation director at Vumatel, Zoom Fibre set out to build quickly and reached its first 100,000 homes faster than it had expected. It runs community projects too, including connecting schools and a smart-city initiative on the West Coast.
How Zoom Fibre works
Zoom Fibre is an open-access network: it owns and maintains the fibre in the ground, but it doesn't sell you the internet directly. Instead, several independent ISPs ride the same line, and you choose which one to buy from, and you can switch ISP later without a new installation. That's why our coverage check shows the network at your address, then lets you compare the ISP packages on it by real monthly price.
Where Zoom Fibre reaches
Zoom operates across five provinces, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, the Western Cape, Mpumalanga and North West, with a particularly strong KZN presence and regional offices in Umhlanga, Middelburg and Vredenburg.
Speeds & signing up
Uncapped tiers run from entry speeds up to around 1 Gbps, sold via ISPs such as Axxess, Afrihost, MWEB and Webafrica. Check your address to compare packages.
Common questions
Can I use my own router?
Usually yes, though ISPs often include one. Check with the ISP you choose on the Zoom network.
