Vuma Reach is the affordable side of South Africa’s biggest fibre brand, built to bring real fibre, prepaid, to neighbourhoods the market long ignored.
The story behind Vuma Reach
Vuma Reach grew out of a pilot in Alexandra where Vumatel tested ultra-affordable fibre, and launched as a product around 2019. The idea was simple but radical for the time: cost-engineer the network and sell it prepaid, so households without contracts or credit records could still get proper fibre.
How Vuma Reach works
Unlike a typical contract, Vuma Reach is prepaid: you buy 30-day passes (often via EasyPay), with no debit order, no credit check and no lock-in. Standard installation and a router are usually free, and the service is uncapped. As with all of Vuma, you buy through an ISP and can switch.
Where Vuma Reach reaches
Vuma Reach is live across townships and emerging suburbs including parts of Soweto, Alexandra, Tembisa, Vosloorus, Mamelodi, KwaMashu and the Cape Flats (Mitchells Plain, Khayelitsha, Retreat and more).
Speeds & signing up
Reach plans typically run from around 20 Mbps up to about 100 Mbps, plenty for streaming, work and study at home for a household budget. Check your address to see if it’s available.
Common questions
Is Vuma Reach real fibre or wireless?
It’s real fibre to the home, the same kind of connection as Vuma Core, just on an affordable, prepaid plan.
Do I need a contract or credit check?
No. Reach is prepaid, you top up when you want, with no contract or credit vetting.
