Comtel is a true local operator, a West Coast network that grew from a small start into the fibre running through Langebaan and its surrounds.
The story behind Comtel
Comtel traces its roots to the mid-2000s, around the time South Africa’s telecoms market opened up. The group runs an open-access network (Comtel Connect) and its own ISP, and offers more than just internet, telephony, TV and security services over the same fibre.
How Comtel works
Comtel is an open-access network: it owns and maintains the fibre in the ground, but it doesn't sell you the internet directly. Instead, several independent ISPs ride the same line, and you choose which one to buy from, and you can switch ISP later without a new installation. That's why our coverage check shows the network at your address, then lets you compare the ISP packages on it by real monthly price.
Where Comtel reaches
Comtel’s verified footprint is the West Coast of the Western Cape, Langebaan and the surrounding area, making it a strong local choice in a region the national players reach less densely.
Speeds & signing up
Home fibre is uncapped, unshaped and symmetrical up to around 500 Mbps, on month-to-month terms. You can buy via Comtel’s own ISP or national ISPs that resell on the network. Check your address to compare.
Common questions
Is Comtel available outside the West Coast?
Its confirmed coverage is the Langebaan area, always check your address rather than assuming wider availability.
