Is it your Wi-Fi, or your line?

The most common broadband confusion — and it’s easy to settle. Test once next to your router, once where it’s slow, and we’ll tell you which one to fix.

2. Where it’s slowThe far room / problem spot
Mbps

Why this works

Right next to the router you’re testing the line; in the far room you’re testing the Wi-Fi reaching it. If the router test is close to your plan but the far-room test collapses, the line’s fine and it’s a coverage problem — a Wi-Fi fix (mesh, a better router, or just moving it) sorts it. If even the router test is well below plan, that’s the line or ISP — export the evidence with our speed monitor and raise it.
